Gets Purple Heart For Union City Man

A Purple Heart awarded Pfc. Peter Nicoulin, 32, was received yesterday by his wife, the former Miss Jean L’Amoureux of 76 Claremont Avenue, Verona. Nicoulin, a native of Union City, was wounded in January fighting in Italy with the Infantry. He had returned to active duty but in a recent letter stated he was back in the hospital for a “rest.”

Nicoulin’s letters give no details of his injury or the action he has seen. In the Army since May, 1942, he went overseas in March of last year. He is the father of a 7-month-old son Peter, whom he has never seen. The couple were married three years ago and had lived in Union City before he went into the service.
